Slope Manager – Big SNOW

Big SNOW American Dream is bringing year-round, real-snow indoor skiing and snowboarding to North America this Fall.  We are currently looking for a Slope Manager to join our management team and help ensure that we are delivering a world-class experience for our guest and team members.

The Slope Manager will lead all on-hill operations at Big SNOW. This position will be responsible for the planning, direction and management of the Big SNOW facility as it relates to the daily operating and maintenance of the snow center, this includes: Snowmaking, Grooming, Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance and Ski Patrol.  The Slope Manager will be a key member of Big SNOW’s Senior Leadership Team responsible for ensuring that Big SNOW’s vision, mission and values are being realized through our on-snow experiences and team members.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for general maintenance of the Big SNOW facility as well as daily on-hill operations
  • Proven ability to manage and train a high performing operations team
  • Experience with development and management of operating budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines and budgets
  • Ability to develop and manage preventative maintenance plans, work order systems and schedules
  • Coordination with vendors, outside contractors and SNOW Operating shared services resources for maintenance and supply needs
  • Responsible for arranging all required and on-going facility inspections and certifications
  • Ensures that all company safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by Big SNOW operations staff
  • Provide staff training when needed in a variety of relevant to the maintenance and safety of the resort
  • Attends and participates in any training opportunities and seminars relevant to the position
  • Participates in capital planning with SNOW Operating executive team to ensure the needs of the facility are met
  • Oversees labor management and expenditures to ensure that department and resort financial objectives are met
  • Ability to lead and structure weekly departmental meetings
  • Be a cultural ambassador for Big SNOW’s guests and team members
  • Additional duties as required at the direction of the General Manager or VP of Operations

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/Associate degree or equivalent related work experience.
  • 5 or more years of management experience in a Mountain Operations leadership role
  • Snow Cat operation and grooming experience
  • Knowledge of snowmaking systems, lift operations, OSHA standards
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Excel
  • Working knowledge of water/waste water, building codes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing, vehicle maintenance or other trade skills a plus
  • Basic working knowledge of automotive repair, parts sourcing, and diesel a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred
  • Must be able to travel as needed to our sister resort – Mountain Creek (Vernon, NJ)
