Retail Manager – Big SNOW

Big SNOW American Dream is bringing year-round, real-snow indoor skiing and snowboarding to North America this Fall.  We are currently looking for an experienced snow sports Retail Manager to join our management team to oversee retail operations for our full-service ski and snowboard retail store.

 

The Retail Manager will be responsible for all retail operations at Big SNOW.  This includes: hiring, training and management of staff, retail buying, merchandising, inventory management, and driving of financial results.  The Retail Manager will work closely with the GM and VP of Marketing to see that Big SNOW’s brand is represented appropriately through our retail offerings.   In addition, the Retail Manage will be a member of the Big SNOW SLT (Senior Leadership Team) responsible for leading the strategic direction of the resort.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee operating budgets and achieve financial targets for Retail Department
  • Develop business strategies to increase store traffic and overall profitability of the retail store
  • Work directly with retail supervisors and leads to ensure the outlet is clean, organized, well- merchandised, and secure
  • Motivate retail agents to meet or exceed sales goals while creating a customer service focused culture
  • Provide strong leadership by supervising, coaching, and training retail team members
  • Interview and recruit new retail staff
  • Responsible for scheduling and monitoring department labor goals and employee performance
  • Oversee inventory rotations, cycle counts, full counts, and submit inventory monthly
  • Oversee the receiving and reconciliation of all retail deliveries
  • Review departmental metrics and guest feedback to ensure the retail department is meeting all guest service goals
  • Identify opportunities to improve department processes in support of Big Snow’s strategic objectives]
  • Maintain daily operational standards set by department which includes monitoring all stock locations for orderliness and cleanliness
  • Maintain a positive environment promoting teamwork and safety to the staff and guests
  • Ability to lead and structure weekly departmental meetings
  • Be a cultural ambassador for Big SNOW’s guests and team members
  • Participate in Senior Leadership team at the location
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the GM

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant previous experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Retail management, specifically the Ski/Snowboard industry or outdoor lifestyle related industries
  • Experience in specialty retail buying and merchandising
  • Comfortable managing and motivating small teams
  • Superior interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Resourceful with strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible work schedule; available to work nights and weekends as business needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • “YES WE CAN” attitude in all interactions with internal and external customers
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and POS softwares.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time.  Ability to lift up to 50lbs
