Human Resources Manager – Big SNOW

Big SNOW American Dream is bringing year-round, real-snow indoor skiing and snowboarding to North America this Fall.  We are currently looking for an experienced Human Resource professional to join our management team and oversee the day-to-day HR and staffing needs of North America’s first indoor ski and snowboard center.


The HR Manager will carry out all human resource policies and programs for Big SNOW.  Concentration on culture, hiring, onboarding, training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, scheduling, and timekeeping. The HR Manager will assist and advise the resort leadership on Human Resources issues. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the HR and staffing functions including: to provide a database of qualified candidates, on-board, orient and schedule staff.  Provide feedback to help managers achieve labor goals and maintain a productive roster of employees.  Promote positive employee experiences through clear and regular communication, events and recognition programs.


In addition, the HR Manager will be a member of the Big SNOW SLT (Senior Leadership Team) responsible for leading the strategic direction of the resort.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for Big SNOW
  • Determines and recommends employee engagement practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship to promote a highly efficient and engaged workforce
  • Protects interest of the company in accordance with the company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations
  • Approves recommendations for terminations through progressive discipline process
  • Work closely with Payroll Administrator to ensure accurate timekeeping, payroll process and address payroll discrepancies
  • Manage central scheduling process and “the board”
  • Establishes standard recruiting and placement practices and procedures. Ensure hiring and retention goals are achieved
  • Maintain relationships with department managers to ensure they are well-supported, ensure proper handling of employee relations issues and have the tools needed to meet goals of the organization
  • Create and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools and other sources to increase applicant pool
  • Manage recruiting efforts to include: job fairs, ads, etc. Work closely with Marketing to achieve branding
  • Facilitate performance review process and development plans
  • Assist with data collection, investigations and return to work for workplace incidents
  • Promotes positive employee experiences through organizing employee activities, recognition programs, events, to grow and support a culture emphasizing corporate values
  • Responsible for adherence to all state and federal employment laws with regards to staff on-boarding, and EEO Compliance
  • Coordinate all training and orientation activities
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Ensure communication is disseminated to the staff through the Human Resources Office
  • In line with company vision and mission, maintain corporate culture
  • Ensure proper follow-up of company programs, policies and procedures: hiring, orientation, payroll, purchasing, benefits, compensation, uniform inventory control, etc…
  • Participate in HR leadership calls with other Snow Operating teams
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the VP of HR

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of three to ten years’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work autonomously
  • High level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Superior interpersonal abilities
  • Resourceful and strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive
  • Ability to maintain upmost confidentiality
  • Flexible work schedule; available to work nights and weekends as business needs
  • Ability to work with several business units and levels of management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • “YES WE CAN” attitude in all interactions with internal and external customers
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
