General Manager – Big SNOW


Something BIG is coming to New Jersey this fall… SNOW Operating is bringing Big SNOW, North America’s first real-snow, 365 day-a-year, indoor, ski and snowboard center to the American Dream retail complex opening in October. We are currently looking for a General Manager to join our executive team and help oversee the development and management of this project. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to be part of building a new resort from the ground up.

The General Manager will be responsible for the successful management of the overall Big SNOW Operation.  This hands-on leader will ensure the efficiency of both on-hill and off-hill operations and that our guests receive an exceptional experience by creating a culture focused on customer service.

East Rutherford, New Jersey

Essential Functions:

  • Directly oversees the operation of the Big SNOW indoor ski and snowboard facility
  • Manage and guide all operating departments to ensure guest and financial goals are met
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with partners, vendors, other tenants, community organizations, and other SNOW Operating businesses
  • Assist and direct managers in developing business processes and goals
  • Work closely with accounting team to effectively managing the resort’s P&L (expenses, labor, capital, revenue) to ensure operations are carried out within budget and appropriate financial goals are met
  • Work closely with leaders of shared service departments (HR, Accounting, Marketing) to ensure resort’s needs are fulfilled
  • Monitor culture and team performance, overseeing training, development and performance management to ensure a Team First attitude
  • Serve as facility spokesperson for all guests, local community, and employees

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, ski area operations, or related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on resort management experience
  • Ability to develop business processes
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills – Ability to inspire and connect with employees and guests
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a guest-focused, service culture
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and deliver results on time and on budget
  • Ability to understand financial reporting and manage to a budget
  • Flexible work schedule; available to work nights and weekends as business needs demand
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and other relevant business software
